The 2010 camping weekend at Isfield
was voted one of the best by regular attendees. Sublime English
summer weather and the presence of several fresh faces played
Eight of us arrived prematurely on Thursday evening and enjoyed
a convivial meal in the Laughing Fish whilst catching up with the
local news via our hosts Andy and Linda.
Friday was spent relaxing apart from awning erecting and organising
the marquee – this was used for Isfield fete and Andy very
kindly left it up for TTF to use. Late afternoon saw the traditional
cream tea workshop when all the scones, made by Beverley were eagerly
consumed along with her home made jams.
Quite a few joined the Saturday afternoon walk along the river
Ouse for drinks or ice creams at the local hostelry before returning
for what is now our usual communal meal at 6pm, alfresco, due
to the good weather before the Saturday evening session in the
Sunday morning’s boule competition was this year won by
Beverley and Martin - only because Barbara knocked Beverley’s
boule closer to the jack!
All the singing/music sessions in the Laughing Fish went well
with extra performers and audience appearing to boost the campers.
The late evenings/early mornings were spent in the marquee chatting,
singing, playing instruments and consuming lots of cheese & wine.
All in all a smashing and relaxing weekend.
This was our nineteenth social and camping weekend, the first
being held on 17-19 July 1992 at The Square & Compasses,
Fairsted, Terling, Chelmsford, Essex.
